Vampirina in the Snow is an adorable wintry read. Vampirina is a vampire who loves ballet and dress in dark colors, very different from the stereotypical pink-costumed ballet dancer we’ve come to know. I love how Anne Marie Pace has brought together two different identities in Vampirina. I believe that most, if not all, of us can relate to reconciling two different identities or interests.
To top it off, the full-color illustrations by LeUyen Pham are gorgeous and fun to look at. I hadn’t thought much in the past about how winter holiday celebrations would look like for the undead. I enjoyed seeing their antics.
I haven’t watched the show or read the Vampirina Ballerina books, but I was able to jump straight in. I recommend Vampirina in the Snow to children (and older readers!) who enjoy and/or can relate to protagonists who are different from the norm and embrace it. This is definitely a book that I would consider getting for a younger reader for a Christmas read.

This looks so cute! And you’re right, it is great to have a kid’s book that shows them you don’t have to choose between parts of your identity, you can be yourself and do both 🙂

It’s precious. And the message is so good for children!

This is cute, I am sure Princess Sophia would like it. When we are the zoo she informed everyone that the bats turned into vampires. It got a good chuckle.

That is such a cute story from the zoo 🙂

That is fun to see a vampire paired with the art of dance. It does send a good message about being able to not just be one or the other, but okay to be both. 🙂
Merry Christmas, Crystal!
