Out of all the challenges that I’ve done in the past, the MMD Challenges push me the most to read outside of my comfort zone. I haven’t finished one yet, but the important thing is that they get me to explore new books.
I like the diverse range of books covered by this challenge: from the book I keep saying I’ll read to rereading a favorite to reading a new-to-me author.
Challenge details:
- Read the oldest book on your TBR!
- Read a book from the year you were born
- Finish a series you started
- Read a book with a cover that is your favorite color
- Read the book you keep saying you’re going to read
- Read a nonfiction book
- Read a book with a title that starts with the same letter as your first name
- Read a new to you author
- Listen to an audio book
- Read a book that doesn’t have a happy ending (JUST KIDDING!)
- Re-read your favorite book
This challenge is to read books that were published pre-2019, aka. 2018 or older. I joined this challenge because I have over 600 books on my Goodreads TBR shelf. I want to read those books that I’ve been meaning to read!
I like how this challenge doesn’t ask us to list a specific number of books that we plan to read, but the optional house points helps us to track our progress and the progress of others in our house.
Some books that I plan to read to kick off my challenge:
- Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
- The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson
- The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss
- Stolen by Lucy Christopher
- Circe by Madeline Miller
- Red Sister by Mark Lawrence
- On Writing by Stephen King
- Legend by Marie Lue
- Prayer by Philip Yancey
- Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young
I drive over 2 hours round trip every weekday to and from work. Audiobooks have been helping me get through my commute. I hope to listen to at least two audiobooks a month, which would place me at approximately 24 audiobooks in 2019.
That said, this challenge is about listening to audiobooks, not about the numbers. I like how it’s pressure free 🙂
I want to create more discussion posts. I love how this challenge encourages bloggers to write more bookish discussion posts and to support each other in their endeavors by linking up our posts each months.
