I’m a big fan of Marissa Meyer’s The Lunar Chronicles series. I loved Wires & Nerve Vol. 1 and have been looking forward to this second installment of the duology ever since. Wires & Nerve: Gone Rogue lived up to my expectations.
As with the first installment, I absolutely loved Iko’s narration. Iko’s fun personality is always a treat to read, so it has been a delight to read from her perspective in the Wires & Nerve books.
I’ve also enjoyed seeing more of the Rampion crew, from how much they’ve grown since the events of The Lunar Chronicles to how they’re settling into their new roles. I would have liked to see more of Cress and Thorn (they’re so adorable), but I did enjoy how Scarlet and Wolf feature more prominently in this second installment.
Gone Rogue continues to study the question of what it means to be human. This time not only through Iko but also through Wolf and his struggle with the genetic modifications done to him in the final installment of The Lunar Chronicles. I’m not sure how I feel about some developments, but I like the open-ended nature and how it gets us questioning about the morality of scientific progress and what it means for us.
This is a quick read that takes full advantage of the visual elements to show us what’s happening. It does focus more on the action than character developments, but I didn’t mind it as much since it kept me flipping through the pages.
Who would I recommend it to?
I recommend Wires & Nerve to fans of Marissa Meyer’s The Lunar Chronicles quartet.
Final Thoughts
I love Wires & Nerve for Iko’s crazy fun personality, its contribution to The Lunar Chronicles world, and its exploration of what it means to be human. There’s nothing really that I didn’t like about the novel. It’s a wonderful book for fans of TLC.
Would I buy it? Yes, I would. The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favorite series 🙂

I cannot wait to read this one! I always liked Iko in The Lunar Chronicles, and I’m happy she’s getting her own story. I still need to read Winter (just borrowed the audiobook from my library), and cannot wait to see how the series will end!
