5 Worlds. 3 Unlikely Heroes. 1 Epic Battle for the Galaxy!
Oona Lee surprised everyone—including herself—when she lit the first beacon to save the Five Worlds from extinction. Can she light the other four beacons in time? Next stop, Toki! On the blue planet, Oona must face the sister who left her, and bring to light the Cobalt Prince's dark secrets. Meanwhile, An Tzu is fading away as his mysterious illness gets worse. Will it stop him from joining the fight? Or will his unique magic be just what the team needs? And Jax Amboy is a hero on the starball field, but in a moment of real danger, will he risk everything to save his friends?
Oona must rely on some surprising new allies in order to stop a terrible plot from unfolding and continue her quest across the 5 WORLDS!
I received this book for free from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
The Cobalt Prince continues to explore new cultures and a new world as the protagonists land on the blue planet Toki. I enjoyed learning about Victor’s homeworld and exploring the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Toki. The environmental damage and toxic pollution gives a Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind vibe—and is a very real threat for us today. I can imagine Toki as a possible future for Earth if we aren’t careful managing our resources.
With a clearer understanding of who is the enemy and their mission fresh on their minds, the protagonists play more of an active role than in book one. Due to various developments, the group ends up separating. On their own, they must overcome the perilous situations in which they find themselves. In the process, they learn more about their potential and develop new skills that will help the group defeat their enemy and continue on their greater mission of saving the Five Worlds from destruction. Oona in particular is highlighted as she discovers what her sister has been doing up until now, her mysterious past comes to light, and she learns more about the threat to the five worlds.
To my delight, there is more action in this second installment of the 5 Worlds series. There are joyful reunions and heartbreaking partings, new allies and enemies alike, and delightful wonders a turn of the page away. All brought to life through beautiful full-color illustrations. I appreciate how this series has been printed on quality paper and bound in hardback for an easy, durable read.
In the end, the central conflict wraps up neatly while promising more adventure to come. I look forward to reading The Red Maze, book three in the series.

Sounds like an exciting addition to the series! And if the illustrations are anything like the art on the outside, they must be beautiful!
Crystal says
Yes, it’s a fantastic addition to the series, and the art is exactly as it appears on the cover. I’m looking forward to starting book 3! 🙂

ooooh I have two little boys who would love this!! I do appreciate that there is more action in this volume than the previous one. It makes sense since vol 1 tends to be setup! I can’t wait to suggest this to them. I like that there is a boy and girl character to follow… I can sneak that in and then quiz them on how that went. ❤️
Crystal says
I agree that volume 1 tends to be a setup. I hope the boys enjoy the 5 Worlds graphic novels! 🙂
This volume actually gives us insight into some of the villains as well, and it does have a pretty good mix of female and male POVs. (One of the villains is also a girl; I enjoyed reading her POV.)
