Through beautiful illustrations by Alessia Trunfio and compelling stories about God’s promises, Max Lucado teaches about God’s unfailing goodness and faithfulness in a manner that is easily accessible for children. In this book, he shares about the promises that God made as recorded in the Bible, how He kept these promises during biblical times, and how He still keeps them today.
I picked up this book because I have enjoyed some of Max Lucado’s work before, and I love children’s books. They are wonderful for sharing with family and enjoying together with younger readers.
5 Reasons to Read God Always Keeps His Promises
- The full-color illustrations are gorgeous. I loved flipping through the pages and looking at them.
- Each chapter includes a “My Promise to God” section, reminding readers that God’s faithfulness to us inspires faithfulness to Him.
- This book is grounded in God’s Word. Each chapter quotes multiple Bible verses, pulled from both the Old Testament and New Testament.
- Max Lucado’s writing is conversational, easy to read and wealthy in conversational topics. I can easily see older readers reading this book with younger readers and sharing what they learn about God.
- Lastly, this is an easily giftable book. The pages are high quality, and its subject is one that readers can delve into year round. This will likely become one of my go-to gift books for young readers.

This sounds like a great story, and sometimes I think we, as adults, need to go back and relearn the basics to restore our faith or make it stronger.
