Welcome to Never Land, the land of Never and the world of rock, the world of new experiences and sensations, a world where music runs through the veins of the dedicated, and love is taken and given with consequences.
Never (Neve) Knight, the lead singer and manager of a band filled with the hottest guys in rock finally gets the dream that she wanted: a label signing her band The Never Knights. It is what she always wanted, a band of her own, playing her own kind of music. Getting her band to where it was came at a high price, including giving up the man who made her heart race and her blood pound, the man that caused her to nearly lose her band. As she gets ready to go on her world tour, fate brings her close to Danny Blue again, and she’s not sure if she can give him up a second time even if it means losing the band.
Writing As a Platform to Help YA and Women
Hi Everyone!
Glad to be hosted by Imaginary Reads today. She wanted me to talk about how my books are actually more than just for entertainment. As an author, I’m pretty visible in the community and on radios, even on television, talking about certain issues that relate to women and young adults. That stems from my experience being a peer adviser when I was in college, advising young women and women in the community with issues such as dating and relationships, sexual abuse, peer pressure, careers, and more. I also hosted a radio show on this topic for college age women.
When I began writing fiction back in 2001, I started out writing a series of books, called the Gifted Girls, a paranormal tween book series, for tween girls that I wrote to help girls with coping with the emotional impact of 9/11 at the time, and I gave part of the proceeds to the American Red Cross, where I was volunteering on my weekends. I was working full-time at that time, but I wanted to write a book that would reach out with a story the girls this age could relate to, with a message of hope and inspiration. Rather than be preachy or parental, the stories speak to them on an age-appropriate basis.
Well, my readers grew up and are now in college or young adults/new adults. I still write for them, picture them as my core audience when I write books for a larger audience. Throughout the years, I’ve met several of my readers, and have kept in touch with some of them. I’m so blessed to be part of their lives. At the same time, I’m happy that I’m able to provide books that are entertaining and still enable me to help people with their issues or growing up and more for those who are seeking it.
With Never Say Never, my mature-ya and New Adult book series, there are some issues women, especially young women in college come across that I wanted to portray. It’s so real to me and to many women what it means to discover who you are and what it means to become a woman instead of staying a little girl forever. This is explored through Never (Neve) Knight’s story with her and her band.
Another example of a book that contained so many issues that teens and young adult face, is Saving You Saving Me, about a girl set to enter college to become a psychiatrist, and volunteers at a crisis center where she comes across two men whom she has feelings for and whose presence in her life, forces her to face her own demons. I started an online crisis community called The Saving You Saving Me Project at http://www.savingyousavingme.com as an extension of this book for anyone seeking help anonymously with any issues.
Then there’s Loving Summer, about a girl named Summer, who spends her summers at her Aunt Sookie’s beach house and learns about love, life, tragedies, triumphs, friendship, and more through her interactions with her Aunt, her best friend Rachel, and Rachel’s hot brothers Drew and Nat. This series talks about divorce, depression, suicide, family, first love, and a condition/disease many American face (which I personally have, but has recently miraculously reversed).
There are so many personal experiences I put into these books, which makes them more authentic, and part of that is what drives me to continue to tell these stories through my books.
Of course, if you’re just looking for a fun and entertaining read, they fit that bill, too because life is about enjoying things and having fun, letting your imagination go. I’m happy to be part of that journey.

Is he looking at me? I felt my face grow hotter still as Danny Blue’s icy eyes fixed upon me. Why is he looking at me? Stop blushing, Neve…
My mother always used to tell me the story of the first time she met my dad, screaming her head off at one of his concerts, catching his eye from across a crowded room. Was this how she felt?
