Series: Fallen #3.5
Format: Hardback: 201 Pages
Publication: January 24, 2012 by Delacorte Books for Young Readers
Unexpected. Unrequited. Forbidden. Eternal. Everyone has their own love story.
And in a twist of fate, four extraordinary love stories combine over the course of a romantic Valentine’s Day in Medieval England. Miles and Shelby find love where they least expect it. Roland learns a painful lesson about finding-and losing love. Arianne pays the price for a love so fierce it burns. And for the first -and last- time, Daniel and Luce will spend a night together like none other.
Lauren Kate’s FALLEN IN LOVE is filled with love stories . . . the ones everyone has been waiting for.
True love never says goodbye . . .
Fallen in Love is a treat for fans of Lauren Kate’s Fallen series. Featuring four love stories, three of which are told from the perspectives of much loved side characters, Fallen in Love takes place during a Valentine’s Day fair in Medieval England. The stories span around three to four chapters each and give us new insight into our favorite Fallen characters.
I can’t say which is my favorite story. I love them all in their own special ways. Miles and Shelby’s blossoming love is cute in the way two close friends discover new, more intimate feelings for each other. Rolan rediscovers a painful love from the past and realizes what it means to lose it. Arianne, the one from the past, experiences forbidden love, and we learn where she received the scar on her neck. Luce and Daniel share a beautiful Valentine’s Day memory together.
Lauren Kate’s writing is descriptive and beautiful. I enjoyed reading from the perspectives of some of my favorite Fallen characters, and I love how the stories cross each other, giving us a rounded picture of what takes place that Valentine’s Day in Medieval England. My only regret is that Cam wasn’t in the mood for celebrating Valentine’s Day along with everyone else, as I would have loved to read his story–and find out more about his type of girl.
I recommend reading Fallen in Love if you are a fan of Lauren Kate’s Fallen series. I recommend asking for a copy for Valentine’s Day or giving it to someone on that special day. This book has been a joy to read, filled alternately with bliss, humor, and tears. Plus, there is that bonus preview to Rapture, book four in the Fallen series!
A last note. I’ve seen quite a few comments on Goodreads bashing this book and how it is unnecessary. In my opinion, it is a gorgeous collection of stories and should be enjoyed as such. I love the stories, and I had fun learning more about various characters and their relationships with one another. There isn’t any reason to hate this book before picking it up, and even then it is rude to insult the author for adding a collection of stories to her series.

It is entirely possible to read it before the others, but it'll give some spoilers. For me, I like reading books in order. It's all about preference.

Can you read this before reading all the other books – or do you have to read them in sequence?
Rapture's coming out soon too:)

Oh, this one sounds great!
I haven't read the other books, but if this gives more background info, and it takes place in the Middle Ages (I mean, knights and chivalry!!) it will be awesome!

I haven't started this series yet but I can't wait to soon. I actually have Fallen on my nightstand right now but I'm currently reading The Iron King so it'll have to wait.
I'll just say that for the most part I always tend to read the in between books of series just because when I love a series I want more of it! Even if it's only expanding a bit on a smaller part of the main story. I'll definitely read this when I get into the series and I'm sure I won't be disappointed if I enjoy the series.
Thanks for the review :>
