As someone who loves novels with mythological roots, I’m delighted to have author Lanie Bross here on the blog today to talk about her debut novel Fates!

What if your destiny was to kill the one you love?
One moment. One foolish desire. One mistake. And Corinthe lost everything.
She fell from her tranquil life in Pyralis Terra and found herself exiled to the human world. Her punishment? To make sure people’s fates unfold according to plan. Now, years later, Corinthe has one last assignment: kill Lucas Kaller. His death will be her ticket home.
But for the first time, Corinthe feels a tingle of doubt. It begins as a lump in her throat, then grows toward her heart, and suddenly she feels like she’s falling all over again—this time for a boy she knows she can never have. Because it is written: one of them must live, and one of them must die.
In a universe where every moment, every second, every fate has already been decided, where does love fit in?
Tell us a little about yourself and how you got into writing.
What inspired the writing of Fates?
How have the characters change since you first envisioned them? Did any in particular surprise you?
What three items are important in your writing process?
Music, but not music with words. I get too distracted!
Short fingernails. Before I sit down to dive into a WIP, I have to cut them all off. I need to be able to feel the keys on my fingertips to make that brain/word connection.
What are you working on right now?

I mainly want to read this because I looooooove Greek mythology, and, by extension, stories that incorporate those elements. This sounds great!
However! Please don't rewrite your middle grade novel into 1st person, that sounds terrible 🙁

First of all, I so fell in love with this cover at first sight, and then with the synopsis. I love reading books where the main character has always thought something was okay until an event that made them look deeper and take action. Can't wait to read this one!!

I love reading stories about characters that are forced to kill the one they love. It is interesting to see their thought process as they learn what the right thing is to do. This book sounds amazing.
