Thanks for dropping by Aíne! To start, would you tell us about your favorite childhood memory? My favorite is one of my Mom. She used tuck me in every night. She’d sit on my bed and trace her finger over my face and used to whisper a poem to me. It was from a book I used to have, but had long since fallen apart from over use, Snuggle up Kitten. I remember every line of it today. I’m determined to remember so I can whisper it to my own children someday.
What was the first thing you tried out after learning about your abilities?
I never really learned of my abilities. I always had them, they were always part of me. So I never made a conscious decision to try them out like that. I did however have an incident in Junior Infants (that’s like of like pre-kindergarten) where I wanted to prove I could talk to the spiders. Two traumatized four year olds and one suspension later, my mom told me I had to keep my talents a secret.
What is your favorite part of your abilities?
Oh that’s easy. Being able to keep an eye on things. I can see and hear things that nobody else can. I take the whole fly on the wall thing to a whole new level. It’s naughty, but fun!
Where has been your favorite place to live and why?
I’m torn on this one. Some of my happiest memories are in the UK with my mom and dad. But it was also the place they were taken from me, and where my happy existence ended. Ireland has been home for so long, and we feel safe here. So I would have to say Ireland. It’s very beautiful, and it being on echoed land, our elements are at home. Ireland is home.
What are your hobbies and interests?
Oh gosh. Horses, horses, and more horses. I love them. If I could spend all day at the stables. I’d be in heaven. I love music too. Oh and clothes, and dancing, but not real dancing. Dancing like as in flailing around the place dancing. It makes me happy.
How has it been being the only girl in a family of guys?
Difficult, but fun. I’ve had to do much of the girly stuff myself. I’ve become pretty self-sufficient on that front. You should have heard Fionn’s ‘the fundamentals of female anatomy’ speech, oh my gosh, that was the singularly most hilarious and embarrassing moment of my life. Bless him, he did try. Being the only girl, the mere mention of the word period has the three boys running for the hills. It comes in handy sometimes.
Have you used your abilities to pull pranks on your siblings?
There is a strict no usage of powers on each other rule. Fionn is super strict on this one. Adam and I sometimes act the maggot with each other, but only small things for fun. You see, each time we use our powers we leave a residual energy. It’s how the Knox track us. So using our powers, especially when not on echoed land, leaves us vulnerable. Since Megan has been around we’ve been dabbling a little bit more than usual. Oh who am I kidding? We’ve been dabbling a lot. It’s been fun.
Describe your ideal guy.
I’m not into looks. I’ve grown up seeing beyond a pretty exterior. I think I’m quite drawn to fixer uppers. You know the guys who hang on the periphery with the soulful eyes? Oh swoon.
Has anyone done anything special for you on Valentines day?
Fionn has sent me a Valentines card every year since I turned sixteen. But shush, he thinks I still believe it’s a secret admirier. I just play along to keep him happy. You should see the smile on his face when I open that card each year. He’s such a sweetie underneath all that tough guy stuff.
Thanks for dropping by, Aíne and Leigh!

I agree. Who wouldn't want her abilities? And I totally agree with her choice of guy! Looks doesn't matter; it's the inside that counts. 🙂

Oh, and I totally agree with her version of the ideal guy:
"I’m not into looks. I’ve grown up seeing beyond a pretty exterior. I think I’m quite drawn to fixer uppers. You know the guys who hang on the periphery with the soulful eyes? Oh swoon."
Irish mythology, cute guys, unusual powers – I think I'll love this story.
Thanks for this:))

Aine sounds awesome!
I haven't read this book, but I love this part of the character interview: "Being able to keep an eye on things. I can see and hear things that nobody else can. I take the whole fly on the wall thing to a whole new level. It’s naughty, but fun!"
Who wouldn't want that??
