As a little girl, Daisy Appleby was killed in a school bus crash. Moments after the accident, she was brought back to life.
A secret government agency has developed a drug called Revive that can bring people back from the dead, and Daisy Appleby, a test subject, has been Revived five times in fifteen years. Daisy takes extraordinary risks, knowing that she can beat death, but each new death also means a new name, a new city, and a new life. When she meets Matt McKean, Daisy begins to question the moral implications of Revive, and as she discovers the agency’s true goals, she realizes she’s at the center of something much larger—and more sinister—than she ever imagined.
Where did the idea of Revive come from?
I read a news story about a drug that could potentially jolt stroke patients back to normal right around the time a family friend died from cancer. Those two thoughts were swirling in my brain and came together to form the premise for REVIVED.
What role in the Revive program would you take on should you join it?
I’d be an agent like Mason. I think it’d be fun to monitor the progress of the candidates and live a covert life.
Daisy has a unique viewon life, knowing that she can be Revived from death. Has this posed any difficulties for you in narrating through her perspective?
There’s something about being a teen that makes you feel a little invincible already, so in writing Daisy, I just tried to amp that feeling up a bit.
What have you enjoyed most in exploring Daisy’s new life and friendship with Matt and Audrey?
I adore Matt, but Daisy’s friendship with Audrey is one of the best relationships I’ve written. I loved writing them getting to know each other; I loved remembering what it was like to sort of fall in love with a new friend.
What has been the best fan reaction to your book thus far?
When I was in New York recently, a fan drove quite a long way to see me, and that was massively flattering. I also earned a musical review from one of my favorite bloggers. Finally, one of my author idols told me a couple weeks ago that he thinks I’m one to watch. That was amazing.
If you could be Revived, would you change anything about your life right now?
Definitely not. I have a great husband and I’m obsessed with my twin, three-year-old daughters. They’re my best friends! I live near my parents and siblings, and I am living the dream as far as “work” is concerned. I’m very happy with my life. (I am also superstitious, so I’ll be looking out for busses today.)

I love author interviews! 🙂 It's great to get a larger insight into what planning went into the novel and what inspired the initial idea for it. A very enjoyable interview. 🙂

If you don't know me or, my gosh, are inexplicably not a music fan, that…probably means not a thing to you. Or maybe it sounds weird. Basically it just means that I liked Forgotten and Revived so much that I heard distinctive music while I read. A soundtrack, if you will. I'm a music junkie, yes, but not everything makes me think musically.

Great interview! I wouldn't want to revive myself either. I'm pretty content with the way things are right now. The book sounds awesome though!
