If you’ve been following my blog over the past year, you know that I started the 2018-2019 school year with no resources one week before students returned. Thanks to your support, my cabinets were stocked, and my classroom library has grown to fill the shelves some kindly souls donated.
At this time, my classroom library is lacking in books published within the last five years. I’m looking to expand my classroom library to expand more recent, diverse reads. I am open to anything you are able to donate, whether it is from your personal shelves or a donation through Amazon or the like.
In addition, I’m looking for books published in the following genres / categories (not necessarily within the last five years), as these are popular points of interest with students at my school.
- Sports (fiction, nonfiction)
- Cars (fiction, nonfiction)
- Contemporary
- Romance
- Drama
- Manga
- Graphic novels
- Hispanic culture (fiction, nonfiction)
- African-American culture (fiction, nonfiction)
- Asian culture, especially Japan and Korea (fiction, nonfiction)
- Other diverse reads (fiction, nonfiction)
I’ve created a classroom library wishlist, but I haven’t had much time to research books and add books to the list. If you have any suggestions for books that teens would enjoy or would love to send me books that aren’t on the list, please let me know. I’m happy to take any donations of books and book swag. (I’m hanging posters and cards above my bookshelves. If you have any other book swag to share, I’d love to decorate the shelves with them!)
If you’re in the Dallas Fort-Worth area, we can arrange to meet up. If you’re located elsewhere and would be willing to ship books or other classroom supplies, that would be fantastic. Just send me an email!
Additional Classroom Needs
My classroom is also in need of a new AV cart, organization items, and school supplies. I created an Amazon wishlist of items that I can use for my classroom and will continue to update it as needs arise. As with the classroom library wishlist, items purchased from the classroom wishlist will be sent to me.
I also have a GoFundMe to that you can share. My most urgent need at the moment is an AV cart since my last cart was wrecked over summer break, and I need this cart to use with my projector. Secondary is the utility cart to store class sets of books. (Note: the utility cart isn’t ideal, but it’s the most price efficient space saver with my current classroom setup.)
How else can you help?

Concluding Thoughts
Thank you so much for your support. I am grateful for anything that you can give. Having a well-furnished, well-stocked classroom goes a long way to building a learning environment and helping students feel welcome.
